Privacy Policy
Tajweed Mufti helps you read the Quran and improve your recitation. This policy says exactly what the app keeps on your phone, what it sends, to whom, and how to delete it. We do not show advertising, we do not use analytics or tracking, and we do not sell or rent data.
What stays on your phone
Your assessment history (each score and the scoring server's detailed result), bookmarks, reading position and settings are stored in the app's private storage on your device. The latest recording is kept on the phone so you can play it back, and is replaced by your next attempt. None of this is backed up to the cloud or copied to a new device by the app.
What leaves your phone
| Data | When | Sent to | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your voice recording of an ayah or word | Only when you record and ask for a score | Our scoring server (sheikhai.xyz), run by the developer | To score your recitation. The audio is held only while it is scored (briefly in a temporary file that is deleted at once) and is never stored or logged. |
| The assessment result (the ayah, score, word scores and mistakes) and any follow-up question you type | When the coach writes or answers feedback | Google's Gemini API, through our server | To write the coaching you see and hear. Neither the app nor our server stores or logs these conversations. |
| The coach's written feedback | When it is read aloud | ElevenLabs, through our server | To turn the feedback into speech. Our server keeps only a count of characters spoken today, in memory, to apply a daily limit. |
| An anonymous account identifier | When the coach or its voice is first used | Google Firebase Authentication | So our server only answers this app. It holds no name, email or other personal details. |
| Your name, email address and account identifier | Only if you sign in with Google | Google Firebase Authentication | To create the account a family belongs to. |
| Family membership: account identifiers, members' email addresses, the invite code | Only if you create or join a family | Our server | To run the family and show its members to each other. |
| Standard request information such as your IP address | When recitation audio plays | everyayah.com and audio.qurancdn.com | To stream the reciters' audio. |
Google, ElevenLabs and the audio hosts process data under their own terms and privacy policies, only to provide the service described above. Everything is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
How long data is kept
- On your phone: until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app.
- Recordings: deleted as soon as they are scored; never stored or logged.
- Coach conversations: not stored by the app or our server.
- Voice usage count: in our server's memory only, reset daily.
- Accounts and family membership: until you delete them (below), leave the family, or the owner disbands it.
Permissions
Microphone is used only while you are recording a recitation, and the app asks before first use. Notifications show playback controls while a surah is playing. Internet is used for the features above.
Deleting your data
In the app: Profile → Delete Account and Data removes your account, your family membership and everything on your phone. Without the app, see Delete Your Data.
Children
Tajweed Mufti is suitable for learners of all ages, but it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Children should use the app with a parent or teacher. Google sign-in and family sharing are for adults.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date before it takes effect.
